On the surface, Frederick Fairfax always looked as cold as ice. But as soon as he got back to his office, he ran straight to the restroom and knelt next to the toilet, throwing up violently.
Olivia Young!
Olivia Young~
Wife!
Are you okay?
I’m not okay!
Not even a little bit.
After he finished vomiting, Frederick Fairfax was completely worn out. He’d suffered through the whole thing during the conference—actors do have better willpower than most people.
He slumped into his chair and immediately began bombarding Olivia Young with messages, sending her an avalanche of stickers.
But Lily didn’t reply.
Suddenly, the door to the office opened.
Ian Hope walked in carrying a stack of files. "President, Madam says to stop spamming her with stickers."
"You. She—" Frederick Fairfax put his phone down, his chest heaving.
Ian Hope set the files on the desk. "Madam said she’ll come join you for lunch."
A smile appeared on Frederick Fairfax’s lips. "Order her favorite dishes."
"Yes, President. These files need your signature."
With the president’s wife coming, Frederick Fairfax’s mood, which had been dark as storm clouds just moments ago, suddenly became sunny and bright, and he had no complaints about work anymore.
Ever since Yana learned to walk, Frederick Fairfax would sometimes bring her to the office, and after work, Olivia Young would come pick up father and daughter. She was already quite familiar with his company.
When the receptionist saw Olivia Young enter, she immediately called the secretarial office upstairs. The secretaries called Ian Hope, who then notified Frederick Fairfax. Once lunch was ready, Ian Hope left the president’s office.
He hoped Madam’s arrival would help ease Frederick Fairfax’s morning sickness.
Ian Hope stood by the door, opened it for Olivia Young, and then left.
"Wife."
Frederick Fairfax hugged Olivia Young tightly. "I threw up twice this morning! It feels awful—tightness in my chest, acid in my stomach, no appetite, and I just feel cold all over…"
He buried his face in Olivia Young’s neck, breathing in her sweet scent before kissing her audibly.
Still not enough.
Another kiss.
Olivia Young let him nuzzle for a full minute before gently pushing him away and raising the temperature on the air conditioner. "Eighteen degrees?"
She turned it up to twenty-six.
Now Frederick Fairfax shouldn’t feel cold anymore.
"I’ll eat with you."
"Mm."
Frederick Fairfax, you’re really looking like a devoted husband these days.
That aloof, unruly Frederick Fairfax of the past—now only exists in his films.
"Let’s see a movie tonight. I haven’t watched your new release yet."
He’d wanted her to attend the premiere, but she’d been too busy with work.
"Okay."
"So obedient." Olivia Young caressed his cheek.
Frederick Fairfax leaned into her palm, his dark gaze fixed intently on her.
"What is it? Don’t expect me to feed you—that’s not happening."
"Nothing. I just want to look at you."
Back when Olivia Young was around, his nausea would ease up a lot. It was still like that now.
The baby in Lily’s belly needed both parents’ love to grow strong and healthy.
Frederick Fairfax didn’t eat much, but it was still better than yesterday.
When Ian Hope came in to tidy up, Frederick Fairfax and Olivia Young were already in the lounge.
From inside the dim lounge, soft, fluttery breaths could be heard now and then.
"Mmm~"
"Stop~"
Olivia Young clung to Frederick Fairfax’s neck. "No, hubby. I’m only six weeks pregnant!"
Frederick Fairfax buried his face in her shoulder, panting hard. "I know. I just wanted to cuddle with my wife."
"Cuddling makes you feel better?"
"Mm. When we’re close, that discomfort in my stomach settles down."
What kind of logic is that?
Olivia Young couldn’t understand, but she gently stroked Frederick Fairfax’s back. "Poor thing, you can kiss and cuddle all you want."
"Wife~"
"Here I am!"
You’re such a big bad wolf!
Olivia Young’s hour-long nap was cut in half because Frederick Fairfax wouldn’t stop clinging to her. She started to suspect that he suffered from skin hunger.
She’d have to think twice about coming to his office for lunch next time.
But it turned out her not coming wouldn’t help.
Frederick Fairfax would just come find her instead.
Her office wasn’t nearly as big as his, and she only had a tiny bed just over a meter wide—not enough for them both to stretch out. Unless she lay on top of him, which wasn’t comfortable either.
So she compromised and went to his office instead.
Every day, their chef at home would whip up new dishes for lunch, and sometimes Yana would join them.
"Mom~"
At naptime, little Yana would crawl right to the middle of the big bed. "I want to sleep between Dad and Mom!"
Frederick Fairfax shot Olivia Young a resentful look. His eyes were full of accusation.
But so what?
Yana was so cute, of course she could sleep between Dad and Mom.
The little one fell asleep in no time.
The couple propped up their chins, mirroring each other as they watched Yana sleep.
"She’s adorable."
"Wife, you were this cute as a kid too."
"Picked the right genes back then," Olivia Young poked her daughter’s chubby cheek.
Frederick Fairfax’s eyes darkened. "Back then you only went for looks—love at first sight!"
"Shh. Keep your voice down."
Alright. Couldn’t risk waking their daughter.
Frederick Fairfax carefully picked up Yana and laid her to the side, then wrapped his arms around Olivia Young. "Let’s nap first. She’ll sleep for a while."
"Keep an eye on her. Make sure she doesn’t roll off the bed."
"She won’t."
Frederick Fairfax barely spared a glance at their now-soundly-sleeping daughter, hugging his wife contentedly instead.
The couple only slept for a little while before waking up.
Olivia Young directed Frederick Fairfax to move Yana again.
Their two-year-old had managed to end up right in the middle of the bed.
Was this what they called a president waking up in a two-hundred-square-meter bed? (Referring to the classic 'CEO romance' cliché in web novels.)
Soon there would be two adorable little ones.
She was about to have two kids, and yet in the original story, the male and female leads hadn’t even gotten together.
But it didn’t matter. They’d left that plot behind—they were the stars of their own story now.
Time flew by.
Soon enough, the day of Olivia Young’s delivery arrived.
Frederick Fairfax, dressed in full protective gear, went in with her.
He held her hand and kept kissing her, "Wife, I’m here. Don’t be scared."
Olivia Young had an epidural, but she still had to push.
Frederick Fairfax kept talking to her. When she didn’t answer, he started to cry.
"You… shut up!"
"Okay, okay, I’ll be quiet!"
Olivia Young pushed so hard she couldn’t even speak. Frederick Fairfax’s heart ached—he hadn’t been there for her first delivery and never realized how much it hurt to give birth.
At last, the sound of a baby’s cries filled the room, and Frederick Fairfax’s tears fell in large, glistening drops.
He brushed Olivia Young’s damp hair away and kissed her cheek. "Lily, you’re amazing! The absolute best."
"Congratulations, it’s a little boy."
"Dad, come cut the umbilical cord."
Olivia Young was completely exhausted, eyes closed. Now she had both a son and a daughter.
Frederick Fairfax cradled the squirming newborn. "Wife, don’t you want to have a look?"
Olivia Young forced her eyes open. The tiny baby, red and wrinkly, was wailing with his eyes shut. "Keep him a bit farther!"
Obediently, Frederick Fairfax handed their son to the nurse.
"The kid’s gone, but your husband is still here."
"You go, too!"
She’d been through childbirth before—she knew what came next wasn’t pretty.
"Alright."
