"Feeling a bit threatened, are you?" Olivia Young teased with a laugh. "Weren’t you always the proud one before?"
The once rebellious big bad wolf was now acting like a meek little puppy.
"I’m still as proud as ever. If you ever try to divorce me, I won’t agree to it." Frederick Fairfax pressed his lips firmly against hers.
A loud smack sounded as he kissed her.
Annoyed, he grabbed a nearby gift box and opened it, only to find a sapphire necklace inside.
No way this was something for a hundred-day-old baby.
Clearly, it was for Olivia Young.
Almost against his will, Frederick Fairfax reached for another box and opened it—it was a jade bangle.
He opened another one: an enormous luminous pearl.
Frederick Fairfax’s expression began to stiffen.
Of course, he refused to give up.
He kept opening boxes: rubies, emeralds, a phoenix coronet, a gold bracelet, a pearl necklace...
Even a pair of couple’s rings.
What’s that supposed to mean?
Did they think Frederick Fairfax couldn’t afford to buy rings?
Even though they were all girly items, he was certain not a single one was for their daughter. Every single gift was meant for Olivia Young.
They clearly weren’t hiding their intentions at all.
Were they that obvious now?
He suddenly wanted nothing more than to go on a celebrity couple show with his wife.
Frederick Fairfax gritted his teeth, sulking in silence.
"Baby, we definitely have to thank all these uncles later for preparing such a generous dowry for you in advance," Olivia Young joked, picking up a jade bangle and waving it at their daughter. "Isn’t it pretty? Do you like it, sweetheart?"
Frederick Fairfax slowly turned his head to catch Olivia Young’s stunning profile. In a soft, heartfelt voice, he murmured words straight from the heart.
How could his wife be so wonderful?
So good at comforting people.
Was his wife an angel?
A little fairy come down to earth.
He wrapped his arms around Olivia Young, sandwiching their baby daughter between them.
"Lily, you love me so much!"
He didn’t even need Olivia Young’s reply. He could feel it.
What she’d just said—it was her way of distancing herself from the others.
She knew those men had feelings for her, but she didn’t like any of them.
She only loved him!
"Me? Are you sure?"
"Definitely," Frederick Fairfax’s voice wavered, the tip of his nose tingling as he blinked away tears. "I love you too."
"You love who?"
"I love you—Olivia Young."
"Who loves?"
"Me. Frederick Fairfax loves Olivia Young."
Flickers of laughter danced in Olivia Young’s eyes. "Our daughter’s heard you. She’s your witness now. If you ever stop loving me, you’ll have to die."
How could he ever stop loving her?
She was this incredible.
"Stop staring at me, you’re making me embarrassed," Olivia Young leaned back. "Let’s say all these gifts are for Yana. I’d never let my husband lose out to other men. Anything I don’t receive, you’ll have to make up for it later, okay?"
"Making it up to you is no problem, but honey—some of those things are one of a kind. You can’t find another like it anywhere."
"They don’t have to be the same."
"Then it’s settled!"
A baby’s hundred-day banquet was the perfect excuse to spoil his wife, after all.
Without her, he wouldn’t have had such an adorable daughter.
With his wife’s encouragement, they welcomed this little bundle of joy into their lives.
Frederick Fairfax felt like a victorious general, holding his daughter with one arm and wrapping the other around Olivia Young’s waist, striding into the banquet hall to the sound of music.
In an instant, nearly every eye in the room fell on them.
So embarrassing!
Olivia Young wanted to bury her face, but as a wealthy heiress and socialite, she’d trained in etiquette since childhood. She straightened her back and lifted her hand in a wave.
Now she understood why Frederick Fairfax kept delaying earlier—he’d kissed off her lipstick, making her reapply it several times, just so they could enter once everyone was seated, basking in the spotlight.
He wasn’t just a domineering CEO, he was born to be an actor!
He was meant for the red carpet.
He thrived under the limelight.
Olivia Young, on the other hand, did not.
Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Grace Gordon and Annabelle Winters sitting together.
Wow.
The male and female leads were sitting together again.
Even without her, the so-called villainess, the destined leads still found each other.
So could she finally get written out of the story for good?
All she wanted was to be a beautiful, wealthy wife with a cushy background and spend the rest of her life in peace.
The way it was supposed to end in the original novel.
No way, no way!
She refused!
At the main table, they sat with their family elders.
The host spoke from the stage, while a giant screen behind him displayed photos of little Yana, their precious daughter.
There were photos taken by a professional photographer, and some snapped by Olivia Young and Frederick Fairfax themselves.
The little princess sat docilely in her father’s arms, big eyes open wide, not hungry or tired after being fed just before the event. She gazed at her father intently.
Everything felt so harmonious and perfect.
If only Frederick Fairfax could ignore the jealous stares he kept shooting at the other men at different tables, it would be truly flawless.
He was so outstanding, and Olivia Young fell in love with him at first sight. The others had no reason to feel inferior for losing out to him.
The only one who refused to accept it was Grace Gordon.
Tonight, Grace Gordon even brought Annabelle Winters as his guest.
To each their own—he might not understand Grace Gordon’s taste, but so long as he stopped thinking about Olivia Young, that was enough.
At another table, Annabelle Winters was preoccupied with eating.
She hadn’t expected that coming here with Grace Gordon meant attending Olivia Young’s daughter’s hundred-day banquet.
Everyone here belonged to the upper crust of society.
It made her nervous!
And especially since she’d taken money from Mrs. Gu. She absolutely couldn’t get caught by her!
"Just gonna eat the whole time?" Grace Gordon’s low voice sounded by her ear.
Annabelle Winters, chopsticks in hand, replied, "What else am I supposed to do? Get up there and give a speech?"
"That’s not entirely out of the question."
"You can’t boss me around anymore. I’m not your secretary now," Annabelle Winters said as she dove into her meal.
Dishes and wines like these were rare treats for her. She needed to seize the opportunity.
If not for eating, then what else was she supposed to do?
She even considered packing some up for her little brother.
Could you even get takeout from a seven-star hotel like this?
"Did you prepare a gift for the baby?"
"Of course."
She set a large crab leg in her bowl, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye. "You didn’t, did you? Don’t tell me the mighty president of Gordon Group couldn’t even manage a gift. Were you planning to mooch off mine?"
Was this guy for real?
"Of course I did!"
Grace Gordon had definitely brought a gift.
He just wanted Annabelle Winters to go up front with him to see Olivia Young.
But Olivia Young hadn’t even spared them a glance—she just focused on her meal, chatted with those around her, or played with her daughter in Frederick Fairfax’s arms.
Clearly, Olivia Young wasn’t the jealous type.
She didn’t care.
The photos on the big screen made it obvious how adorable their daughter was.
If he and Olivia Young had married, would they have had such a lovely child, too?
Grace Gordon’s expression grew dim, and after only a few bites, he began to drink in earnest.
Once dinner was nearly done, the photographer arrived on site.
The stage had been decorated with adorable props. Olivia Young and Frederick Fairfax carried their little princess up for photos.
Then both families’ elders joined them for group shots.
After that, more and more relatives joined in.
Soon Olivia Young was surrounded on stage, her bright, radiant smile standing out among the crowd.
Her happiness shone in her eyes for all to see.
"Now it’s time for friends! Anyone who wants a group photo, please come right up!" the host announced enthusiastically.
No sooner had he finished than several men near Grace Gordon stood up.
