“I wish I could, but we signed a prenup, remember?” Olivia Young said helplessly. “No funny business allowed!”
It was truly a case of digging her own grave.
How could she still be smiling?
Frederick Fairfax's voice grew husky. "Then what do you call kissing me?"
“That’s your reward for doing my laundry.” Olivia Young tapped his nose playfully. “Now, I’m off to bed.”
Frederick Fairfax: "..."
Is this what being a woman is like?
He must be possessed, to even consider building a real relationship with Olivia Young.
She saw him as nothing more than hired help! Just someone to do the heavy lifting!
She kissed him whenever she pleased.
She was terrible—utterly terrible.
Not long after, Frederick Fairfax climbed into the warm bed.
He was just getting used to sharing a bed with his wife, even if he only got a tiny strip of mattress.
The covers were cozy, the air was sweet and fragrant.
And yet, tomorrow, his wife would be gone.
Staying at a hotel just wasn’t as convenient as being at home.
Would Olivia Young miss him?
Probably not!
Back home, there’d be someone else to wash her underwear.
Someone for everything.
She was living the immortal life—hand out for clothes, mouth open for food.
But there’d be no one to kiss her!
No one to tease!
When he wasn’t around, would that pack of Beijing admirers start making moves?
The more he thought about it, the angrier—and more worked up—he became. He didn’t fall asleep until the middle of the night.
The next morning.
The two of them were eating breakfast in the dining room while staff packed up their luggage.
Before they’d finished, the doorbell rang.
Frederick Fairfax opened the door to see Sir Fairfax standing at the threshold.
“Grandfather, what brings you here?”
Worried he wouldn’t let her leave?
Not a chance!
“I’m here to fetch my darling granddaughter-in-law!” Sir Fairfax pushed past him impatiently, full of contempt for his grandson’s cluelessness.
Get out of the way already!
Frederick Fairfax: "..."
The tides had turned.
Olivia Young must truly be born with an irresistible charm! She didn’t even have to do a thing—everyone loved her to bits.
“Grandfather!”
Olivia Young greeted Sir Fairfax with the sweetest of smiles, her gentle voice making the old man—who had never had a granddaughter—absolutely delighted.
Frederick Fairfax stared on in silence.
Was there even a place left for him in this house?
After chatting amiably with Olivia Young, Sir Fairfax finally glanced at Frederick Fairfax. "And your hair—why haven’t you dyed it back yet? You look like one of those disreputable street punks. Are you trying to be a thug?"
“This is art. I’m making a sacrifice for my craft,” Frederick Fairfax retorted.
Sir Fairfax scoffed and dismissed him altogether.
Once their luggage was ready, it was time to leave.
Frederick Fairfax shoved his hands in his pockets and tried to act smooth as he saw them to the car.
“Baby, we’re going to be apart from Dad now. Do you think Dad will miss us?” Olivia Young said, patting her baby bump.
“No way!”
Frederick Fairfax insisted, “Work is my ideal life.”
Olivia Young got into the car. As the window lowered, she looked at Frederick Fairfax and said softly, “The baby and I will miss you.”
On the spot, Frederick Fairfax almost burst into tears.
He wanted to cry—but held it in!
Why was the car already driving away?
He…
He still wanted to say something to Yu Yue.
Why did he have to act tough just now?
He finally understood why people say all that about tsunderes—damn tsunderes!
Tsunderes deserved what they got!
As soon as Olivia Young returned to Lakeview Villa, her brother Quentin Young found out Frederick Fairfax was away on a film shoot—and moved in for good.
He didn’t trust anyone else to look after his sister.
One night, a month later.
Olivia Young was sitting in the music room, listening to her brother play piano, when a video call from Frederick Fairfax came in. She answered.
"Enjoy the music," she said.
The screen showed Quentin Young's back as he played piano.
"Olivia Young! I didn't call to see him!" Frederick Fairfax snapped.
Someone’s got a short fuse today!
Olivia Young turned the camera on her round baby bump. “Take a look at your child, then. Still waiting to be born! We had a 4D scan, the baby’s healthy—and pretty well-behaved.”
"Time to see the kid’s mom."
Only then did Olivia Young lift the phone. On screen, Frederick Fairfax’s formerly pink hair was now shimmering silver. His loose black robe slipped from his shoulders, and if you looked closely, water droplets clung to his neck.
So he’d just showered before calling!
Yesterday, he’d still had pink hair.
Now, silver.
Miraculous Jingche.
He could wear any color he wanted.
She wanted to ruffle it.
"You never come home. What's the point of showing me this..." Olivia Young grumbled. She could see him, but couldn't touch. It made her itch with frustration.
How was she supposed to sleep tonight?
"If you don't want to watch, then I'll hang up."
"Go on, then!"
But Olivia Young didn’t hang up, and neither did Frederick Fairfax.
They just sat in silence, looking at each other.
Finally, the piano music stopped.
"Is that you, brother-in-law?"
Quentin Young squeezed into the frame. “Hey, bro! You changed your hair color again!”
Quentin Young’s face took up nearly the whole screen. Frederick Fairfax couldn't even bring himself to say he didn't need looking after.
With all the servants at home, none put him at ease like her own brother did.
As Olivia Young put it, a servant raised in the family was the only one who truly understood her.
"My sister should get to bed. You too, brother-in-law!"
Quentin Young pressed a button and the call ended. Then he turned to Olivia Young, “Sis, once the baby’s born, we need to divorce that guy!”
Olivia Young replied calmly, “Why?”
“He’s unreliable! He’s gone for a whole month! Doesn’t even care that you’re pregnant. Sure, the baby's not his, but you are his wife!”
“He doesn’t love you. He doesn’t care about you!”
“Sis, we’re rich! We can afford to look after ourselves.”
"Little bro, it’s not a money issue. Whether or not Frederick Fairfax loves me isn’t important. If divorce is coming, it’ll come sooner or later. No rush—I’ve got my own pace." Olivia Young patted his shoulder. “Just... try not to say that kind of thing in front of Frederick Fairfax in the future.”
He might look all tough and proud, but deep down, he was pretty fragile.
"Sis, I can't believe you're speaking up for him. Do you like him or something?"
Olivia Young just smiled mysteriously. “You’ll understand, someday.”
He wanted to understand right now!
Was there really something even a blood relative like him could not know?
On her way back to the master bedroom, Olivia Young’s phone wouldn’t stop buzzing—it was all Frederick Fairfax’s messages.
The last one sounded angry.
Unhurried, Olivia Young finished her bedtime routine, climbed into bed, and finally replied:
[Olivia Young: ]
[Frederick Fairfax: What’s that supposed to mean? Am I your pet dog now?]
[Olivia Young: No, I’m leaving.]
[Frederick Fairfax: Go on, then. Goodbye!]
There he went, being all tsundere again.
Olivia Young fell asleep.
When she woke the next morning, she saw Frederick Fairfax’s messages.
Why so petty?
“Baby, your dad is such a moody, childish man.”
She replied with a perfunctory: Have a good shoot.
She had plans with her mom to visit a baby store today.
Sophia Sinclair came by early to pick her up.
Lately, mother and daughter were both hooked on shopping for baby and maternity gear.
It was Olivia Young’s first time having a baby. She was both nervous and worried—she kept feeling like she needed to buy everything, just to be prepared.
“These baby clothes are so cute, and so tiny!”
Olivia Young held up a little outfit, her eyes brimming with motherly love.
How could they be this adorable?
So, so small.
And one day, they’d grow up.
She picked out a few sets of clothes. Just as she turned around, she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye.
