Frederick Fairfax’s mind was still floating from that kiss just now.
A public place, under the open sky.
Olivia Young had openly ignored their agreement and kissed him on the cheek.
Once again, he’d been teased by Olivia Young.
How could she love taking advantage of him so much, grabbing every chance she got?
This woman…
From the corner of his eye, Frederick Fairfax noticed—as he was just grilling some barbecue—someone had approached Olivia Young to strike up a conversation.
And she was laughing so happily, too.
They seemed to be talking about children.
Children…
Why did he suddenly feel a twinge of jealousy toward the child’s father?
That shouldn’t be! There were no feelings between them!
Hannah Xu sidled up to Olivia Young’s side.
Her family wasn’t from Beijing, but she’d lived there for several years. Naturally, she knew the story about Olivia Young coming back to China while visibly pregnant.
So when the the Fairfax and Young families announced their engagement, she always assumed it was just a business alliance.
But now that she’d met Olivia Young herself, she had to confirm it for herself.
She asked quietly, "Miss Young, how many months along are you?"
"Five months," Olivia Young replied.
"At that time, you were still abroad, right? So this child…" Hannah Xu smiled with a touch of curiosity. "I don’t mean anything by it—just that I heard you’d only just come back, and then immediately had a flash marriage with Mr. Feng. This baby—he doesn’t mind?"
"He doesn’t mind at all," Olivia Young said, glancing at Frederick Fairfax. Was he about to get revenge on her? Maybe by loading up her food with chili powder? Was he trying to burn her mouth off?
Olivia Young gently patted her belly. "It’s his own child. Why would he mind?"
Hannah Xu was dumbfounded.
What?!
Frederick Fairfax’s child? How was that possible?
That didn’t match what she’d heard at all.
But it was because the baby’s father was Frederick Fairfax, and because she married him, that Olivia Young sometimes idly searched Frederick Fairfax’s name online and found gossip about him.
Especially about Hannah Xu.
She was always posting about places Frederick Fairfax had been to, or mentioning outfits he’d worn, giving everyone the wrong idea.
Her feelings were obvious to the whole internet.
Everyone except Frederick Fairfax knew.
Hannah Xu’s disappointment was clear to see. "So that’s how it is. Did you two start dating secretly when you were abroad?"
Olivia Young had suffered enough loss in the original story from being indecisive about her rivals.
Hesitation only makes things worse.
Olivia Young answered softly, "Miss Xu, you know how it works among the wealthy—marriages aren’t really up to us. But since we’re married now, of course we hope to grow old together. As for feelings, those can be nurtured."
Not everyone is the same.
Olivia Young at least has the chance to develop feelings with Frederick Fairfax.
And Hannah Xu doesn’t even have that.
The man she liked was already married.
There was no point in staying in showbiz anymore.
Image! It’s all about image!
Single and unattached, the cool movie king—all a façade.
In private, his wife’s already visibly pregnant!
Frederick Fairfax walked over carrying a huge platter of grilled skewers for Olivia Young. "Dig in. Extra chili, just the way you like it."
"I saw! Hubby, you’re so thoughtful. You really know what I crave these days. Love you!" Olivia Young made a finger-heart gesture at him. "Help me with the milk."
There was a glass of orange juice in front of her, and plenty of alcohol on the table.
A pregnant woman obviously couldn’t drink.
Frederick Fairfax went to get her some milk.
"Strawberry, banana, coconut, plain milk, yogurt, peanut milk—whatever you want, take your pick." He set a mountain of drinks around her barbecue plate.
Finally, he could take a break.
He could eat what others had grilled—for himself, at least.
But his wife insisted on eating only what he grilled.
For her, it had to be clean and safe.
"Love you, love you!"
Olivia Young planted another kiss on his cheek.
The crowd erupted in playful cheers.
"Oh~~~~~"
"Wow~~~~"
"That’s so sweet!"
"Is this really President Feng’s type?"
"That’s not the point! The point is our sister-in-law!"
"I’m blushing just watching! So embarrassing!"
Under the bright lights, Frederick Fairfax’s ears turned red.
He picked up a lamb skewer, took a bite, and leaned in close to Olivia Young. "Why did you kiss me again?"
Olivia Young whispered, "If I didn’t, how else would I get your admirers to back off?"
"My admirers?"
"Don’t play dumb. Acting like a loving couple is in our agreement, too. You get all the benefits—might as well enjoy it!"
Who’s actually enjoying it here?
It was clearly her!
Olivia Young returned to chatting, while Frederick Fairfax quietly touched his own cheek.
She’d kissed him twice today.
Damn!
Why were the corners of his mouth turning up?
Ugh. He couldn’t control it anymore!
He picked up a glass of wine to try to calm himself.
"Come on, tell us—how did you two get together?"
"When did you meet?"
"What was your first impression of each other?"
"When was your first kiss?"
"Why did you suddenly go public?"
"Sis-in-law, what do you like about Brother Feng? He always seems so aloof and hard to please!"
There wasn’t a single person in this crew who wasn’t nosy.
Olivia Young sipped her milk. "If you don’t want to play the game and just ask straight out, aren’t I at a disadvantage?"
"Play, play, play!"
"Let’s play the game!"
Olivia Young was blessed with good luck.
The bottle never landed on her, not once.
After a few spins, it landed on Frederick Fairfax.
Someone asked, "First impression of sis-in-law!"
Others protested, "Come on, that’s a softball question!"
"Yeah, ask about their first kiss!"
"Or their first… night."
Olivia Young’s heart skipped a beat—were they really going there?
If he answered honestly, the truth would come out!
"First impression—she was tiny, dressed in a princess dress, with a birthday cake bigger than she was. It was a castle cake." Frederick Fairfax’s pale face colored a flush, his seductive eyes turned dreamy. "She was a chubby little ball carved from jade, absolutely adorable."
Olivia Young: "…"
He’s talking about when she was a kid, isn’t he?
How old was she then?
Why didn’t she remember this at all?
Frederick Fairfax, your memory is too good.
"Childhood sweethearts?"
"Since they were kids?? Wow! I always thought the rich young master falling for a working-class girl was just a novel trope. In real life, it’s always a power match!"
"Duh, the ultra-wealthy aren’t running a charity. Who’d really marry some innocent nobody—what else are they good for beyond spilling coffee on a CEO’s pants?"
"That’s not fair! Every heroine has her strengths."
"We’re getting off-topic! So, Feng, did you like her from that age? Love at first sight and all that? ‘I, Frederick Fairfax, have chosen you, Olivia Young—when we grow up, you’ll be my wife!’"
Olivia Young nibbled her straw. No wonder he was an actor—what an imagination.
"Isn’t Miss Young’s childhood friend Grace Gordon?"
Hannah Xu suddenly chimed in.
Everyone else looked awkward, sneaking a glance at Frederick Fairfax’s face.
Usually he could drink quite a bit, but tonight, just a little and he was already blushing. Was he angry?
"Keep going, keep going!"
The bottle game resumed.
Olivia Young kept eating, and when she was full, she handed her plate to Frederick Fairfax to grill her more skewers.
"You can’t leave! We still have so many questions for you!"
"Sit, sit! Let Xiao Lin do the grilling!"
"Sis-in-law, if you want barbecue, tons of people can grill for you!"
Frederick Fairfax stood up. "If anyone else grills, she won’t eat it. She only likes what I make."
Ooh~ Someone’s turning possessive.
Maybe just to avoid more questions.
Olivia Young played along, "Right—I like my husband’s cooking. He knows my taste."
Frederick Fairfax left.
And this time, the bottle slowly landed in front of Olivia Young.
Olivia Young blinked. Even the luckiest have their off days, huh?
She set down her glass of milk. "Go ahead, ask."
