"That President Mo even snatched several of our company's partners. I also heard that Wanrui is working closely with the Mo Group now. Just the other day, I saw President Mo having dinner with our former Director Xue," Chris Cooper said, his tone laced with sarcasm. Clearly, he couldn't make sense of the connection between Mo Fan and Mandy Snow.
"Snatched several of our partners?" Lauren Shaw frowned slightly.
"Exactly. All those partners have ties to Mandy Snow. You know things have gotten pretty tense between our company and her—she's targeting us at every turn."
This was hardly unexpected. After all, Mandy Snow had worked within the Shen family for years, certainly holding onto valuable contacts and resources. Now that she'd been kicked out, she was bound to hold a grudge and stir up trouble.
Still, these petty acts of sabotage were little more than nuisances to the Shen family—not really a threat.
As they spoke, a black sedan suddenly barreled straight toward them.
Chris Cooper reacted instantly, yanking the steering wheel to dodge the out-of-control car. Their vehicle shot into the roadside greenery and crashed into a tree. The airbag exploded on the driver’s side. Lauren Shaw, sitting in the back seat, knocked her head against the car door and passed out on the spot.
Smoke billowed from the hood.
Yuan Ran, from the car behind, screeched to a halt and rushed over, hauling Lauren Shaw and Chris Cooper out of the wreck.
Chris Cooper escaped with minor injuries, nothing serious. Lauren Shaw, on the other hand, was in bad shape—her forehead was bleeding and she was completely unconscious.
When Yancy Shaw heard Lauren Shaw was hurt, he lost his usual calm and dashed into her hospital room, his steps unsteady.
By then, Lauren Shaw had already regained consciousness, though her head was wrapped in gauze and her face was shockingly pale—she looked terribly fragile.
He wanted to hold her, but was afraid he might hurt her. His eyes brimmed with red and his voice trembled. "Sheng Sheng, you must have been scared out of your mind."
Seeing how rattled he was, Lauren Shaw shook her head gently and reassured him in a soft voice, "It's nothing—just a minor injury."
It was really only a gash on her forehead; she hadn't suffered worse. Considering the circumstances, she was incredibly lucky.
"Did they catch the driver?" Lauren Shaw recalled the car that came at them head-on. They'd been driving normally; it had seemed almost deliberate.
"They’ve already caught him."
Turned out the man tried to run, but Yuan Ran nabbed him before he could get away.
Lauren Shaw nodded in relief. "That's all that matters."
Yuan Ran called with an update: the culprit suffered from a psychological disorder—he didn’t even know Lauren Shaw and had just snapped from pent-up stress. If Chris Cooper’s car hadn’t been so well-made, things could have ended far worse.
Lauren Shaw was still weak. After chatting a while with Yancy Shaw, she eventually closed her eyes and fell asleep.
As dusk approached, Yancy Shaw received a call on his phone.
He glanced at the unfamiliar number, frowned, glanced at the sleeping Lauren Shaw, and stepped out to answer.
"What is it?" he asked coldly, his voice enough to chill the air.
Mo Qinglin, on the other end, wasn’t fazed. He chuckled, "Does Third Young Master Shen dislike hearing from me that much?"
"If you’ve got something to say, spit it out. I’m not in the mood for games," Yancy Shaw snapped, barely containing his irritation.
Mo Qinglin let the amusement fade from his voice and said seriously, "I was going to tell you—I have evidence that Mo Fan killed Eva Snow. But with that attitude, I almost don’t want to share."
His tone had a teasing edge, which only made Yancy Shaw want to punch him.
"Mo Qinglin, how old are you? Stop being so childish."
He hadn’t explicitly agreed to work with Mo Qinglin, but the fact he’d answered the call spoke for itself.
Dropping his playful act, Mo Qinglin said, "I'm in the hospital parking lot. Come find me."
Mo Fan had grown suspicious lately, sending people to follow him. Mo Qinglin had feigned a need for rehab treatment to shake them off just long enough to arrange this meeting.
After the call, Yancy Shaw headed to the parking lot.
Seeing Mo Qinglin there, he said flatly, "Get to the point."
Mo Qinglin couldn’t help teasing, "Are you always this cold with everyone, Third Young Master Shen? How does Miss Li put up with you?"
As soon as he mentioned Lauren Shaw, Yancy Shaw's face went dark.
Sensing his displeasure, Mo Qinglin wisely cut the jokes. He quickly pulled a USB drive from his pocket and offered it. Yancy Shaw merely glanced at him, not reaching for it.
"This contains evidence that Mandy Snow and Mo Fan killed Eva Snow."
"Why don't you take it to the police yourself?" Yancy Shaw was no fool—clearly, Mo Qinglin wanted to use him as a weapon against Mo Fan.
"After the police seized that last shipment, Mo Fan's been suspicious of me—someone's tailed me constantly. More importantly, I don’t trust the police." Mo Qinglin explained the only chance he had to slip away was while his driver was getting paperwork inside.
Yancy Shaw eyed him warily, then finally took the USB.
Mo Qinglin checked the time and spoke hurriedly, "My driver will be back any second. You should go."
He needed to be careful—not giving Mo Fan any reason to suspect him.
Yancy Shaw glanced at his injured leg, lowered his voice, and said, "Some things can’t be faked for too long. After a while, you forget who you even are."
With that, Yancy Shaw left with the evidence.
Mo Qinglin pondered his words. By the time he figured them out, Yancy Shaw was already out of sight. He couldn't help but smile to himself, "Nothing gets past that guy..."
Back at the office, Yancy Shaw plugged in the USB and brought up the recording—Mo Fan and Mandy Snow's conversation played out.
"If Xue Qiang learns I was involved in Eva Snow's death, he'll kill me..."
"Didn't you say nothing could go wrong with this shipment?"
After listening to it, a smile tugged at Yancy Shaw’s lips. He immediately dialed Lu Chaoran.
That night, Lu Chaoran led his team to Mo Fan’s residence.
Mo Fan was stunned to see them at his door. "What is this? Are you really breaking into my house in broad daylight?"
Lu Chaoran gave him a crooked grin and flashed an arrest warrant. His tone was sharp: "Mr. Mo Fan, you are a suspect in a premeditated murder case. Please come with us."
"Premeditated murder? I have no idea what you’re talking about."
Lu Chaoran sneered, signaling to the officers, "Take him away!"
At the same time, Mandy Snow was also taken away by police.
Shen Siyin watched the whole thing coolly, unmoved by Mandy Snow’s protests of innocence.
Yancy Shaw copied the recording and sent it to Xue Qiang. Since things were getting interesting, why not invite more people to the show?
At the police station, in the interrogation room—
Mo Fan struck a cold, aloof figure, glaring at Lu Chaoran with disdain. "I don’t know what you’re talking about. My lawyer will be here shortly—you can talk to him."
