[Wifey: Hubby, buy me a little cake on your way home~]
A sweet, childish voice chimed from the phone.
Frederick Fairfax looked at the message coming from his wife's phone and sent a voice reply: "Sweetheart, give the phone back to Mom."
[Wifey: Dad, can you buy a cake for your baby?]
[Wifey: If you won’t buy it, I’ll ask Uncle Shaw instead~]
This little troublemaker!
How is it that his wife is still everyone's dream girl?
They'd been married for six years now!
And there were still people waiting for them to break up!
Even that idiot Grace Gordon was no exception.
Yet, Frederick Fairfax still didn’t dare buy his daughter a cake.
His little princess had been having some trouble with her teeth lately.
[Frederick Fairfax: Dad will buy you something else instead.]
No reply—probably, his wife had already taken the phone back.
That evening, Frederick Fairfax came home from work, carrying a bag.
Yana Young, dressed in a princess dress, ran over on tiptoes.
"Dad! Dad!"
She clung to his leg. "What yummy thing did you get for your baby girl?"
"Today’s viral snack—corn tarts."
He handed her the bag. "Don’t eat too much, or if Mom catches you, I won’t be able to save you."
"Mom wouldn’t bear to hit me~"
Olivia Young came downstairs, carrying their son, just in time to see father and daughter eating tarts together.
"Dad~ Dad~"
Olivia Young set their son down. Fiona Fairfax toddled over, watching his sister eat, drool dribbling helplessly from his mouth.
"Jiejie (Sis)~"
"I want some~"
"Dad, Dad~"
Fiona Fairfax’s chubby little hand reached for Frederick Fairfax.
Frederick Fairfax turned to Olivia Young. "Honey~"
Olivia Young remained unfazed. "Why are you looking at me? You’re his dad—don’t you know what he can eat?"
"He can eat anything."
Frederick Fairfax handed Fiona Fairfax a blueberry.
The little boy took the blueberry, eyes aggrieved and puzzled. "It’s not the same. Not like sis’s..."
Frederick Fairfax scooped him up. "Your sister’s older. When you grow up, you’ll get to eat them too!"
The little one reluctantly munched his blueberry, and after finishing it, reached out for another.
Frederick Fairfax sat on the couch, playing with his son.
For every "Dad," he got a blueberry.
Watching this, Olivia Young thought: So this is what fatherhood looks like—treating your son like a little puppy.
At least the boy was standing by those long legs, not lying on the floor, or it would be even more obvious.
Too lazy to bother with them, Olivia Young went to the dining room for dinner.
Soon enough, Frederick Fairfax showed up, one child in each arm.
After all those snacks, they barely touched dinner.
Olivia Young stealthily pinched Frederick Fairfax’s thigh under the table.
"Honey~"
"Your daughter just nibbled at her food~"
"Mom, I’m full!" Yana Young obediently put down her chopsticks.
Olivia Young warned, "Don’t complain about being hungry tonight."
Picking up her chopsticks again, Yana Young said, "I think I could eat a little more."
Little Qingyu sat in his high chair, leisurely eating and getting his mouth all oily and messy.
Catching her watching him, he lifted his drumstick. "Mom, Mom~"
"Baby eats, Mom gets some too."
She wasn’t about to eat that—the kid’s drumstick was seasoned differently from hers, anyway.
After putting both kids to bed, Olivia Young returned to the bedroom—only to find Frederick Fairfax shirtless, wearing black shorts, with a cute, fluffy tail attached to the back.
She’d ordered that tail off TikTok, but he’d never worn it before.
It was a magnetic tail, and it would wiggle whenever it detected sound.
"Hubby~"
Frederick Fairfax put on a stern face, but the tail behind him started swaying.
This silly contraption brought to life that classic cartoon scenario: If humans had tails, they’d be wagging like helicopter blades when they’re happy.
"Hubby, hubby, hubby~"
The little tail kept on wagging.
So adorable!
(˵¯͒¯͒˵)
She loved it.
"Wife, are you feeling a bit happier now?"
Olivia Young reached out and teased the tail. "Yes, but you could definitely make me even happier, don’t you think?"
Frederick Fairfax pulled her snugly into his arms. "Babe, can you try keeping those guys away from you?"
"Sorry, even though I’ve escaped my villainess fate, I’m still a total people-magnet~"
Not much she could do about that!
Jealous, Frederick Fairfax kissed her hard.
Dazed from his kisses, Olivia Young whispered, "But you’re the only one I’ll ever love~"
She really was a people-magnet, yes, but she had—and would always have—only one husband.
