With just one sentence, Frederick Fairfax was completely hooked.
After all, there was only one husband—him.
So what if so many people had a crush on Olivia Young? In the end, he was the winner.
He was the one who married Olivia Young.
The one and only.
Frederick Fairfax was utterly captivated by Olivia Young’s cute little expression. "Mm, I only have you as my wife, too."
"Pfft! There are countless people on Weibo and TikTok calling you ‘husband’. Lots of women claim they’re your wife."
That’s just the affection of loyal fans.
"Honey, why don’t you make a Weibo account of your own?"
"No way!"
She’d already deleted all her old accounts.
No matter what, she had to keep her new one secret from Frederick Fairfax this time.
Frederick Fairfax’s eyes dimmed.
"I keep you safe in my heart, but you want to put me all over the internet?" Olivia Young poked at his abs. "No—you can just post me on your Moments." (Moments: WeChat’s private friend circle feature)
You never know what kind of people are on the internet.
At least Frederick Fairfax’s Moments was carefully screened.
"Alright~"
Frederick Fairfax looked a bit put out—but only for a second, because his wife’s soft, fragrant hand was trailing along his skin, and soon his gaze grew hazy, his breathing heavy, and a blush crept across his face.
So innocent.
Teasing Frederick Fairfax had become one of the greatest joys in her life.
Olivia Young was really enjoying this kind of life these days.
——
Airport.
International arrival terminal.
A group of men in sharp suits bowed their heads apologetically.
"Young President Yu, we didn’t manage to pick him up!"
"We’re sorry. We promise to find Mr. William."
On the way to the airport, their car had gotten into a minor accident—then they’d run into awful traffic.
They’d sent the manager ahead, but still missed the pick-up.
Gone was Quentin Young’s usual youthful demeanor in front of his sister. Clad in a perfectly tailored suit and exuding scholarly elegance, he said, "Let’s get in the car first."
Sliding into the back seat, he immediately called William.
It was William’s assistant who answered, explaining Mr. William had already met with someone.
Impossible.
All their people were still at the airport.
Quentin Young quickly realized: William had been snatched up by someone else.
He’d followed this overseas project for ages.
And now someone else had swooped in?
Quentin Young hurried to the hotel and pushed open the door.
Inside the luxe private suite sat Grace Gordon with Mr. William.
Back when Grace Gordon and his sister were on good terms, Quentin Young had really admired him—he was so impressive and capable, the sort of man Quentin Young aspired to become.
But ever since Grace Gordon had started keeping a stand-in by his side, Quentin Young couldn’t stand him anymore.
His sister had warned him months ago to keep his distance, to cut back on business dealings with Grace Gordon.
He’d listened.
"Mr. Gordon, what’s the meaning of this?"
Quentin Young strode in. "Mr. William is my client."
"Did you sign a agreement yet?" Grace Gordon’s voice was cool. "No agreement, no claim. Qingsong, the business world is a battlefield—you’ve still got a lot to learn."
He couldn’t lose his temper in front of the client.
Quentin Young politely approached Mr. William. "Mr. William, hello. I’m Quentin Young—the one who’s always been in touch with your company. You were pleased with our proposal, which is why you came to sign the agreement. He… I have no idea where he came from. Please don’t be fooled, Mr. William."
Grace Gordon sipped his wine, looking perfectly composed, as if victory was already his.
He quietly listened to Quentin Young and William converse in English.
In the end, Quentin Young left empty-handed.
After the meal, Grace Gordon also left the hotel.
He’d barely reached the parking lot before Quentin Young rushed out of his car. "Grace Gordon! What’s your problem?"
"Just suddenly took an interest in international projects, that’s all."
"Grace Gordon, whether domestic or abroad, our company’s bridge engineers are top-tier. At the price you offered William, you’ll barely turn a profit overseas. What’s in it for you?" Quentin Young clenched his fists. "I can’t believe you’re this kind of person. No wonder my sister doesn’t want you!"
That jab lit a fire under Grace Gordon.
Why was he going after the Young family’s project? Because deep down, he wasn’t willing to just walk away.
Grace Gordon maintained a calm facade. "The agreement isn’t signed yet. There’s still room to negotiate—you can have your sister come talk to me if you want."
"Grace Gordon, are you even a man? What does this have to do with my sister?! You already have a stand-in, stop pining after the real thing! Don’t eat from one bowl while eyeing another! (Chinese idiom: wanting to have your cake and eat it too) I have no respect for you. If it comes to it, we’ll just drop this project!"
"Are you sure this is the only project?"
Grace Gordon let out a cold laugh and got into his car.
Quentin Young stood frozen, watching him drive away.
What did that mean?
Was Grace Gordon after other company projects too?
Doesn’t he have any shame?
Damn it!
There was a mole in the company!!
Quentin Young was fuming.
But he didn’t dare tell his sister.
It’s just less profit, no big deal, no big deal, no big deal——
If it’s no big deal, why did he feel so upset!
He needed some baby therapy.
After work, Quentin Young drove straight to Lakeview Villa.
Early spring in the estate—the grounds were lush and green, white magnolias bloomed on the branches, pink peach blossoms vied for attention, willows swayed nearby—a landscape of brilliant color and beauty.
Too bad he was in no mood to appreciate any of it.
He headed straight for the upstairs nursery. The nanny was already familiar with him.
"Young Master Yu’s back again."
She automatically stepped aside.
The little bundle lay in the crib, staring up at the dangling mobile, big dark eyes wide and sparkly—utterly adorable.
"Baby! Uncle’s here~"
"Give uncle a hug."
Quentin Young leaned over, carefully scooping the baby into his arms.
Being born to the Shi family really was different—this kid never cried, just smiled away.
As soon as uncle picked her up, her chubby hands reached for his face.
"Baby, you smell so nice! So sweet and fragrant!"
"A little fragrant baby!"
Her milky little voice was heart-meltingly cute.
Quentin Young was happily getting his fill of that baby scent when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw his sister come in.
"Sis~"
"So early today? It’s not even time to get off work yet."
Frederick Fairfax wasn’t even home.
Quentin Young had arrived first.
"Had nothing to do, so I left early. I’m the boss, I have the right to leave when I want." He carried the baby over. "Baby, look who’s here—Mom! So, who do you love more, mommy or uncle?"
With a smack, Olivia Young swatted him.
"Sis!! You hit me in front of my niece? That’s so humiliating!"
Quentin Young put on a pitiful face.
"Don’t ask questions like that. And don’t say things like ‘mommy doesn’t love you’ in front of the baby." Olivia Young lectured. "Got it?"
Quentin Young nodded, then whispered to the baby, "Mom is so fierce."
"Since you’re here, I’m going to go work out—"
"Okay, Sis."
He watched her leave, then pressed his cheek to the baby, erupting in a villain’s mischievous chuckle. "Baby!"
Six in the evening.
Frederick Fairfax returned home, glanced at Quentin Young’s car with a touch of satisfaction.
Baby duty was covered tonight.
Which meant he could spend some quality time with his wife.
Her body should be fully recovered by now~
It’s been six weeks, after all.
Frederick Fairfax shed his suit jacket and slung it casually over his arm as he strode upstairs.
"Honey."
Olivia Young had just finished yoga and was feeling lazy and languid when she turned around, only to be swept up into Frederick Fairfax’s arms.
"Honey, is your brother here?"
"Mm."
Frederick Fairfax nuzzled against her neck. "So, can we… tonight?"
Olivia Young lightly ran her hand along his arm. "Not now. I feel like something’s off with my brother. You’re both men—why don’t you go have a talk with him?"
