A deadly question!
If he got it wrong, he'd have to coax Olivia Young all over again.
"That morning after you left, I kept looking for you. Then, out of nowhere, I started throwing up. I thought I was terminally ill. Grandfather said we should get married. At first, I didn't have feelings for you like that, but, honey, you're just so adorable—I couldn't help falling for you, and now here I am. I decided to let go of the past and, just like I once told you, I've forgotten the woman from that night. You should forget about the child's father too."
"I love you. The person who was with me that night was you too. It makes me so happy to think that even fate didn't let me defile myself with another woman. From start to finish, you've been the only woman for me. So now, you have to take responsibility for me!"
Frederick Fairfax's eyes seemed to say: 'Wife, was that answer good enough? Go on, praise me!'
Olivia Young lightly patted his cheek. "We'll consider that a satisfactory answer."
"Lily~"
Olivia Young shivered. Every time Frederick Fairfax called her name like that, dragging out the end, it sounded like he was about to go into heat.
Better run!
"Honey, where are you going?"
"To check on the baby. With Quentin Young the way he is, I don't feel at ease."
Olivia Young wished she could walk through walls and appear directly in the nursery.
Sure enough, before she even got there, Olivia Young heard Quentin Young's rambling cries echoing in the corridor.
"Baby, your mom is such a bad person!"
"She doesn't even treat her own brother like family anymore—she actually kept this from me."
"She could hide it from anyone, but why me? I've always been on her side..."
"I just don't get it. The sky is falling..."
"Baby, you mustn't learn from your mom..."
"Baby, your uncle only has you left..."
Olivia Young walked over and—smack!—landed a slap right on his face.
"Sis!"
Quentin Young sat on the carpet, looking up at her. "You come in and just slap me—did I say anything wrong? Even mom and dad know!"
"It's not my fault, really—it isn't."
Olivia Young scooped up her bewildered baby. "I thought mom and dad would tell you themselves."
Quentin Young covered his face—not that it actually hurt.
Unless he really made his sister mad, she rarely hit him hard. Most of the time, she was gentle.
But still, he couldn't help feeling aggrieved.
Why, oh why, was he always the last to know?
He even felt like killing Frederick Fairfax.
His angelic big sister, his fairy sister~
"So... it's mom and dad's fault?" Quentin Young wiped his eyes. "Sis, you just had a baby, it must be so hard—and still, mom and dad didn't even tell me something this big. Do they not think of me as their son anymore?"
"Come on, of course you're their son. You're my beloved little brother, too."
Olivia Young ruffled his hair. "There, don't cry. Or do you want the baby to think her uncle is a little crybaby?"
If anyone knew how to comfort people, it was Olivia Young.
Quentin Young stopped sniffling.
Standing in the doorway, Frederick Fairfax felt a wave of jealousy. So Olivia Young didn't just ruffle his hair—she ruffled Quentin Young's too!
She just goes around ruffling everyone's hair!
Couldn't she at least be a bit selective?
Frederick Fairfax strode in and shot Quentin Young a disdainful look. "Crying your heart out to a baby who's not even a month old—impressive. Guess you're off babysitting duty from now on!"
"Says who!" Quentin Young shot up, agitated. "That's my sister's daughter, Yana Young! She has my last name, Yu. So what if she's your biological daughter—she still carries the blood of the Young family. Even if it wasn't you, even if it was my sister with someone else, her child would still be my niece."
"I. Am. Raising. Her!"
"Honey, he says he wants to raise her. Let him have a go, yeah?"
"Frederick Fairfax, what kind of father are you?" If Olivia Young weren't holding her daughter, she'd have slapped both of them.
Out, both of you.
She could handle ten of them.
She had a nanny for help, no big deal.
"I'm just worried about my wife." Frederick Fairfax reached out for the little girl. "Here, let Dad hold you~"
"Did she cry when you pulled her hair?"
"She did."
Frederick Fairfax answered honestly.
"Her actual father, honest to goodness. She just got born and you're already pulling her hair for a paternity test? Couldn't you have just asked me directly?"
"I wasn't sure."
Quentin Young listened in bewilderment.
So Frederick Fairfax had secretly done a paternity test before finding out the truth?
And still found out before he did!
"I'm going to lose it. I really am! You all knew before I did!"
Frederick Fairfax just took the baby from Olivia Young. "What's your problem? I only found out a tiny bit before you did. Besides—my grandpa, my parents, they all knew."
"Even my parents knew!"
Both men stared at Olivia Young.
Olivia Young looked everywhere but at them, her gaze shifty. "Suddenly I'm hungry. I'll go downstairs and grab something to eat—you two keep an eye on the baby, okay?"
"Don't run!"
They chorused in unison.
Olivia Young ran even faster.
You'd have to be a fool to stay there.
So she ran.
Downstairs, Olivia Young could already hear her daughter's cries. She silently gave her a thumbs-up.
That's my girl.
No wonder she's my little treasure.
Leisurely munching on strawberries, Olivia Young was joined by Sophia Sinclair, who sat beside her. "You only just told Frederick Fairfax that Yana is his daughter?"
"I didn't tell him. He figured it out himself—did a paternity test by pulling her hair."
"Then what's with that Divorce Show?" Sophia Sinclair just couldn't wrap her head around it.
If Yana was Frederick Fairfax's biological daughter, there was no reason for her to join some divorce show!
"Frederick Fairfax said he wasn't the one who signed up. I believe him."
With Frederick Fairfax's personality—bold, upfront, never one to hide or hold back.
There was only that one thing—she kept it from Frederick Fairfax, so that's why.
While mother and daughter were still puzzled, Uncle Lee came in: "Ma'am, Miss, Young Master Gu has arrived—he says he came to give an early New Year's greeting."
Grace Gordon entered, gift in hand.
"Auntie, Xiyue!"
It had been a long time since Olivia Young had seen Grace Gordon.
