Olivia Young, utterly resigned, pulled out her phone and searched for Frederick Fairfax’s name. “You two are a little slow on the uptake, aren’t you?”
She was slow on the uptake too!
“Wuwuwu, Miss, you're so pitiful…”
“How could he just die? Wouldn’t it have been better to come back with Miss and enjoy a good life?”
“Miss, how are you feeling now? Should we go straight to the hospital for a checkup?”
“Miss, being a single mom is hard work. Maybe you should consider marrying into the family!”
The driver and Uncle Lee sobbed and wailed as they talked.
Olivia Young really worried they'd get into an accident, so she quietly buckled her rear seat belt.
Frederick Fairfax, twenty-six years old. Debuted at twenty. In all this time, he's only acted in one drama and three movies, but he’s got a dozen or so endorsement deals. Three films have netted him over twenty awards.
So he’s got tons of free time~
Only four projects in six years.
No wonder he could show up at that overseas gala.
Whatever. The entertainment industry is nothing to do with her anyway.
“Stop crying. I’m absolutely fine, and so is the baby in my belly.” Olivia Young’s ears hurt from the noise. “Everyone, quiet!”
The two fell silent instantly.
Finally, some peace and quiet.
Olivia Young shut her eyes and rested happily.
Back home at last, body and soul at ease. But every time she remembered that now and then the ‘Plot God’ could take control of her actions, she felt a wave of misery.
She needed to warn her family and friends to stay far away from the plot.
The car pulled up to their mansion. Olivia Young saw her parents standing at the door, holding flowers and waiting for her.
Mom, Dad, don’t worry.
Your daughter is definitely not obsessed with romance!
She won’t let you go bankrupt.
“Lily!”
“Baby!”
“Sweetheart!”
Olivia Young rushed into her mom’s arms, “Mom~~~~~~”
In the past five years, for all kinds of reasons, she hadn’t been able to come home, and her parents had flown abroad several times to see her.
She still missed them so much.
“Still such a little charmer.” Sophia Sinclair couldn’t get enough of her darling daughter, her eyes full of love.
Sophia Sinclair pulled Olivia Young inside, leaving her tearfully overjoyed husband behind.
“Sweetheart, you really look pregnant! You need to exercise more—your belly’s a bit round…”
“Mom, is it possible that I actually am pregnant?” Olivia Young softly clung to her mother’s arm, looking up with puppy eyes.
“What!!!”
“Sweetheart! You’re pregnant? Whose is it? Which rotten brat—come out and get what’s coming!”
Her dad’s heart nearly broke from the news.
Petals from the bouquet kept falling to the floor.
“Lucas Young, be quiet,” Sophia Sinclair admonished with a single look, and Lucas Young quietly picked at the petals, cursing the scoundrel under his breath.
He peered surreptitiously outside as the butler wheeled in the luggage and the driver parked the car. No sign of any man.
So… who was it???
Once Olivia Young sat down, she found a cup of warm water in her hands.
“Sweetheart, what’s really going on? Did you run into some trouble abroad?”
Other than being unable to come home, she’d actually lived pretty freely overseas.
So, no trouble—but she did meet a man. One that didn’t need any game, just pure, rugged handsomeness.
That night, the lights blurred, the air turned sultry, and two adults wound up doing all the things adults might do—a night of fire, passion, and endless memories.
Thinking back on it still made Olivia Young’s face flush.
No wonder Frederick Fairfax, with over a hundred million fans online, was so famous. That face, that body—he was destined for it.
His fans chose wisely.
“Lily, don’t scare your dad! Tell me, just who took advantage of you?!” Lucas Young was nearly frantic since she stayed silent.
His bright-eyed eighteen-year-old daughter, sent off to study abroad, finally home after five years—and now she had a bun in the oven!
“I just dated a handsome guy for a while, and then he disappeared. But this is a life, you know? I’m attached now. I want to have the baby.” Olivia Young stroked her belly, tears shining at the corners of her eyes as she leaned against her mother. “Mom~”
Lucas Young: ??
So after all that scolding, the guy’s just vanished?
Sigh!
His precious daughter was so beautiful.
Poor thing—being a single mom wasn’t easy. If it was a little brat, she’d really have her hands full.
Sophia Sinclair’s heart ached. She gently stroked Olivia Young’s back. “Don’t worry, sweetheart. It’s okay. You’re home now—whatever you decide, your father and I will support you. Home will always have your back.”
“Mom——”
She loved her mommy more than anything.
She’d much rather stay home as a spoiled daughter than go chasing after any man. Boring!
“You only have eyes for your mom, huh? I’m right here, and you still haven’t even greeted me!” Lucas Young looked heartbroken.
“Hi Dad!”
“I’m not okay.” Lucas Young pouted.
Sophia Sinclair teased him with a laugh. “Honestly, how old are you? Don’t be so childish!”
“She’s my own daughter. Can’t I be a bit dramatic? My poor baby, her very first love and it already ended before it began. That guy had no luck—let’s just not talk about sad things. But being a single mom is going to be tough for you…”
Olivia Young smiled. “I’m not alone, though. I’ve got you, Mom and Dad, my little brother, and all our house staff. Plus, I’ll hire a nanny!”
As the saying goes: if you’re capable of suffering, life will never stop giving you suffering. But she wasn’t the suffering type—she came to this world to enjoy herself.
Did you hear that, Plot God?
She wasn’t here to be some villainess!
“Alright, alright. Hire whoever you want. All you need to do is rest and take care of yourself and the baby. We’ll handle everything else.” Sophia Sinclair held Olivia Young’s hand gently, not wanting to let go, her gaze soft and full of love.
After chatting a while more, Olivia Young went upstairs to rest.
Her room was just as she left it—spotless and tidy, with not a hint of mustiness after five years away. Everything was lovingly maintained. Fresh sheets and bedding, new decorations on the wall, and an arrangement of her favorite Applejack roses in a white porcelain vase.
There really was no place like home!
Upstairs, Olivia Young quickly drifted into sweet sleep.
Downstairs, Lucas Young sat hugging baby photos of Olivia Young, crying his eyes out.
“In the blink of an eye, she’s all grown up. She’s going to be a mom herself! Honey, tell me this isn’t real?”
Sophia Sinclair smacked him upside the head.
Lucas Young cradled his face pitifully. “Honey, I’m your husband. Did you have to hit that hard?”
“I wanted to see if my hand hurt.”
“Did it?”
“It did!”
Lucas Young put down the photos and reached for Sophia Sinclair’s hand.
“Lily’s always been strong-minded. If she’s decided to keep the baby, then she’s going to do it. But an unwed, single mother…what about her reputation if this gets out? She’s still so young. There’s no way she’ll stay single forever.” Sophia Sinclair sighed. “Should we figure something out?”
“Find her a husband now?” Lucas Young’s eyes lit up, only to dim again. “But who’d sign up to raise another man’s kid?”
“Why not? Our daughter’s beautiful, we’re rich. Getting a live-in son-in-law would be a breeze! Have some confidence!” Sophia Sinclair let go of his hand. “You take care of it.”
