It was obvious that Mrs. Chen believed Lauren Shaw. Although Mandy Snow was upset, she managed to keep her feelings in check.
As the head of the family, Shen Wenting naturally had to remain fair. But in this situation, even he sided with Lauren Shaw, given everyone’s different positions.
He looked at Eva Snow with a stern face. "Now isn’t the time to argue about who’s right or wrong. What’s done is done, and you should’ve followed the family’s arrangements. Why come to the Shen household and cause a scene?"
This person clearly had no regard for the Shen family whatsoever.
Mandy Snow fell silent for a moment, then shot a resentful look at Lauren Shaw.
"Eva Snow is the victim here, Mother. You can’t always take Lauren Shaw’s side and believe whatever she says. I’m your daughter-in-law too. Just because Nanfeng isn’t your biological son doesn’t mean you should be so biased."
Mrs. Chen’s face turned livid. It was true that Nathan Shaw wasn’t her biological child, but she had treated him as her own all these years. Mandy Snow’s words pierced her heart like a knife, a cruel reminder of her stepmother status.
"You..."
"Instead of twisting the truth with your eyes wide open, why not worry more about her future, rather than barging into the Shen family and accusing others?"
A deep, chilling voice rang out—it was so cold, you could feel the unease even without seeing the speaker.
Lauren Shaw instantly understood: Yancy Shaw was back. She looked toward the entrance, delighted.
Yancy Shaw strode in, his face gloomy as if covered in a bruise. He radiated a rare, menacing air.
Lauren Shaw could already guess what was going on. Her heart dropped heavily as she turned a sharp gaze toward Mandy Snow.
Mrs. Chen took a deep breath. She’d wanted to retort angrily at Mandy Snow earlier, but now Yancy Shaw had handled it for her—there was no need.
Mandy Snow seemed unfazed, completely unaware of what was about to happen.
The moment Yancy Shaw entered, Eva Snow and Shen Siyi, who had been loudly defending themselves just seconds ago, fell instantly silent.
Deep down, they were still guilty—and a bit afraid of Yancy Shaw.
"Somebody, throw out anyone who doesn’t belong here!" Yancy Shaw was merciless.
Who else could that refer to but Eva Snow?
Mandy Snow tried to stop him. "Yancheng, I don’t care what you think, but look at Eva Snow—she just wants justice now that she’s in this state."
"You call this justice? Setting up my wife is justice? If it had been Lauren Shaw lying in that room last night, would you be talking to me about justice right now?"
Yancy Shaw fixed her with a freezing stare, his eyes hiding something dangerous.
Mandy Snow flinched, unsure whether it was his gaze or simply the unprecedented intensity of his manner today that unsettled her. Biting her lower lip, she kept silent.
Shen Wenting had now pieced everything together. With a cold snort, he said, "Serves her right! Tried to pull a fast one and ended up losing more than she bargained for. Now she wants sympathy? Where does she get the nerve?"
He might be old, but he wasn’t stupid—he knew right from wrong.
Tears welled in Eva Snow’s eyes. Yancy Shaw hadn’t spared her a single glance since he arrived, no matter how disheveled she was today. He felt not an ounce of pity.
Once Eva Snow was out, Yancy Shaw turned to Shen Siyi. Feeling guilty, Shen Siyi didn’t dare linger in the living room. She dashed out so fast, it was as if a wind carried her feet.
With both of them gone, Yancy Shaw called for the household staff to leave as well. In the now-spacious living room, only the core members remained—whatever was to happen next, he didn’t want too many to know.
Noticing he had cleared the room, Mandy Snow scoffed. "What are you up to? If you have something to say, just say it. No need to send everyone away."
She seemed utterly oblivious to Yancy Shaw’s true intentions.
Yancy Shaw showed no trace of emotion at her sarcasm.
Lauren Shaw sneered. "He’s doing it for your sake—giving you some dignity."
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Mandy Snow’s mask faltered. Sensing something off between the couple, unease gnawed at her. She had a bad feeling they had something on her.
Yancy Shaw placed a folder in front of Shen Wenting.
Mandy Snow’s brow twitched. "What is that?"
Yancy Shaw calmly fixed his gaze on her. The shadow in his eyes made her ever more nervous.
Shen Wenting called for Mrs. Chen to fetch his reading glasses. He checked the DNA test report in his hands, staring so hard his hands trembled. Worried he’d misread it, he looked again.
"Outrageous!"
His voice thundered with both authority and fury as he clutched his chest, his face flushing red with rage.
Lauren Shaw looked at him in concern.
Worried his blood pressure might spike, Mrs. Chen hurried to pop a pill in his mouth.
"Don’t let this make you sick."
Seeing how furious Shen Wenting was, Mrs. Chen’s curiosity got the better of her—she picked up the report and frowned deeply. "Yancheng, what... what on earth is this?"
No wonder Shen Wenting was so incensed—even she found it utterly unbelievable.
Yancy Shaw turned his cool gaze to Mandy Snow. "You’ll need to ask Mrs. Xue about that."
He didn’t even want to call her "sister-in-law" now—she no longer deserved it.
Mrs. Chen glared at Mandy Snow, her voice shaking with anger. "What’s going on? Siyi isn’t Nanfeng’s child?"
All color drained from Mandy Snow’s face as Mrs. Chen slapped the report down in front of her. Even with a hundred excuses, there was no escaping this.
"Well done, Mandy Snow. You kept this hidden for eighteen years!"
Back when Mandy Snow married Nathan Shaw, the Shen family had objected; the Xues were involved in questionable business, aiming to marry into a respectable family. Nathan Shaw was the perfect target.
Old Master Shen had opposed it strongly, especially since Nathan Shaw already loved someone else. The Shen family flatly refused the match.
So the Xues resorted to underhanded tactics to put Mandy Snow in Nathan Shaw’s bed. Soon after, she claimed to be pregnant to force a marriage—driving away the woman Nathan Shaw truly loved.
Nathan Shaw was left despondent. From that time on, his smile grew ever rarer. Mrs. Chen had always felt guilty toward him; never did she suspect Mandy Snow was the true culprit behind it all.
Truly despicable!
Mandy Snow shook her head, denying it all. "No, it’s not true. He’s framing me. Don’t believe him!"
"Still refusing to face the truth at a time like this!" Shen Wenting slammed his palm on the table; so angry, he clutched his chest and coughed violently.
Lauren Shaw and Mrs. Chen both looked at him with concern. Yancy Shaw hurried over, gently patting his chest. "Take a deep breath, Dad. Don’t let her upset you now of all times—it’s better we see her true face sooner rather than later."
After a few deep breaths, Shen Wenting slowly composed himself.
"And your brother?"
"He should be home soon."
Yancy Shaw had called Nathan Shaw as soon as he received the test results—any moment now, he’d walk through the door.
