If She Can't Have It Easy, Neither Can Lauren Shaw

Locked in her room by Old Master Xue, Eva Snow glared furiously at her reflection in the mirror. The memory of everything that had happened at the hotel sent her into a spiral, and she screamed in frustration.
Nothing had really happened between her and Yvonne Sung, but someone just had to witness that scene. No matter how she tried to explain, it would never sound right. The fact that she even shared a bed with Yvonne Sung made her feel utterly disgusted and ashamed.
She smashed everything in her room, unleashing piercing screams and roars, as if destruction was the only way she could vent her rage.
Outside the door, the servants heard the chaos and, fearing she might hurt herself, hurriedly unlocked the door to check on her.
With bloodshot eyes, Eva Snow saw the open door and rushed to escape, only to be blocked by a maid. "Miss, Master said you can’t go out..."
"Out of my way!" Eva Snow roared, shoving the maid to the ground before bolting out the door.
The maid scrambled after her, but Eva Snow was long gone.
She drove straight to Lauren Shaw’s studio.
Around noon, Yancy Shaw called Lauren Shaw, telling her he’d pick her up for lunch and to wait for him at the studio.
Lauren Shaw obediently sat in the studio, waiting.
Moments later, Eva Snow parked her car and stormed toward the studio.
Seeing someone charge in, full of hostility, Mia May quickly stepped up to block the way. "Hello, do you have an appointment?"
Eva Snow glared at Mia May, radiating anger. It took Mia May a moment to recognize her—wasn’t this the woman who was always causing trouble for Sister Sheng?
Realizing who it was, Mia May shot her a cold glare. "What are you doing here? You’re not welcome."
A cold frost cloaked Eva Snow’s face. She growled, "Move. I’m here for Lauren Shaw."
Already disliking her, Mia May wouldn’t budge. She signaled for Cici Fox and Maya Wells, who rushed over to help, blocking Eva Snow at the entrance.
Enraged, Eva Snow tried to force her way in, but how could she overpower the three of them? Together, they formed a solid wall; unless Eva Snow sprouted wings, she wasn’t getting through.
"Who do you think you are? You think Sister Sheng will just see you because you want?" Maya Wells shot back, attitude sharp.
Cici Fox glared as well, holding her ground.
Eva Snow was like an enraged lioness, eyes wild, fists clenched at her sides. Facing the human blockade, she finally broke and screamed at the top of her lungs, "Lauren Shaw! Get out here! Come out!"
Right then, she looked every inch the raving madwoman—disheveled, unkempt, shouting at Lauren Shaw’s door with no care for her image. She hadn’t even bothered with makeup or combing her hair. She looked like a lunatic.
Mia May gave her a shove, snapping, "What are you shouting for? Are you crazy?"
All Eva Snow wanted now was to find Lauren Shaw and pour all her anger onto her, uncaring of anyone else watching.
"Lauren Shaw! What, too scared to face me? You bitch! Are you satisfied now that you’ve ruined me? Brave enough to do it, not brave enough to admit it, huh?"
Her insults grew progressively filthier, a stream of venom pouring from her lips.
Finally, Mia May couldn’t take it. "What’s wrong with your mouth? Keep it up and I’ll call the police!"
But Eva Snow kept ranting, forgetting her own status.
"So this is Snow family’s upbringing—no wonder you excel at street-corner catfights," someone said coldly.
Lauren Shaw stood at the studio’s entrance, frost in her eyes and ice in her voice. Despite speaking at a measured pace, her presence was overwhelming.
Eva Snow whipped her head up and sneered. "So, you finally dare show yourself. I thought you’d be too guilty to face me."
Guilty? Please. Why should she be? Lauren Shaw had just been on a call and hadn’t heard the commotion—otherwise, she would’ve come out sooner and given Eva Snow a slap. No way she was going to let her go on like this.
"Me, guilty? Hardly. I heard the wedding between the Mo and Xue families is off, and Old Master Xue’s bedridden from rage. And still you have the nerve to show your face? Aren’t you worried about bringing more shame to yourself?"
Eva Snow’s throat was raw from screaming, but seeing Lauren Shaw so calm only sent her over the edge. She howled, "Shameless bitch! You set me up, threw me into Yvonne Sung’s bed—what kind of snake-hearted woman are you!"
She glared with toxic hatred, as though she wanted to tear Lauren Shaw limb from limb, cursing her to never know peace.
Lauren Shaw’s gaze grew icy. She addressed Mia May and the others, "You’d better go inside. I’ll handle this."
Mia May protested, "Sister Sheng, this woman’s out of her mind. We should stay and protect you—or call the police?"
"Yeah! What if she tries something?" added Cici Fox.
"It’s fine, I’ll handle it," Lauren Shaw said, her calm, confident gaze reassuring them. Even so, Mia May and the others hovered just a short distance away.
"There’s a security camera here. Keep screaming and I’ll sue you for defamation. We’ll settle it in court, if you like," Lauren Shaw said coolly—nothing Eva Snow said could rattle her.
The more unflappable she acted, the more infuriated Eva Snow became. It was as if all her curses had bounced right off, leaving her looking like a wild shrew for nothing.
"I haven’t even come after you about all this, and you’re already at my door with this nonsense. Eva Snow, are you stupid?"
It was obvious—if anyone started digging into the truth, both Eva Snow and Mandy Snow would be exposed.
But Eva Snow had lost all reason. In her mind, everything that had happened was Lauren Shaw’s fault. All her logic had flown out the window; the only thought left was: if she was suffering, Lauren Shaw couldn’t have it easy, either.
"This is all your doing. If it weren't for you, I wouldn’t be like this," Eva Snow muttered as she slipped into her car, slammed the accelerator, and sped away.
Not long after she left, Yancy Shaw arrived.
Seeing Lauren Shaw waiting at the door, he walked over and gently touched her cheek, a soft laugh in his voice. "Were you waiting at the door specially for me because you knew I was coming?"
Lauren Shaw raised an eyebrow. "Half and half."
"Oh?"
"Eva Snow just showed up, hurling all kinds of insults at the door," Lauren Shaw explained. She’d almost resorted to slapping Eva Snow, but remembered the security cameras. No need to give Eva Snow an excuse.
Yancy Shaw’s expression hardened at the mention of Eva Snow’s name.
"What did she want?"
"What else? She can’t stomach it. Thought she’d set me up, but ended up caught in her own trap, so she came to vent the blame on me."
